\n So, a logarithm, is the opposite of an exponential, but that probably doesnt make sense,\n

\n But soon, it probably will!\n

\n so, a logarithm is a function that takes an input and gives an output.\n\n

\n but thats obviously (i hope) is not enough to define what it is!\n\n

\n a logarithm is like an exponential. when you put a number in an exponential, usually, you get a bigger number.\n\n

\n that bigger number is 2^x but thats probably too complicated because its just pure math notation, so take it\n like this.\n\n

\n but that basically means that, you take 2, then multiply it by 2 a couple times, where \"a couple\" is the input.\n\n

\n so, 2^4 is 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 = 16. Here's a graph on exponential growth!\n\n\n

\n logarithms, do the opposite. exponential 4 is less than exp5, but not by as much as 5 is less than 6.\n\n

\n logariths do the opposite. log 4 is less than log 5 by more than log 5 is less than log 6. the increase increase\n (i hope that makes sense) slows down.\n\n

\n so, log 6(0.7) is less than log 8(0.9), but by a lot more than log 1000(3) is less than log 1002(3.0008).\n\n

\n Fun Fact: log 1 is 0, log 10 is 1, log 100 is 2, log 1000 is 3, etc. the result is the number of 0s!\n\n
