Times on a clock are coordinates.\\n\\nIn physics, we want to do math. To do math, we need numbers. In other words, say where zero is for each coordinate.\\nThen we have to decide how big one unit is for each coordinate.\\n\\nWe will make a natural choice: start counting from the center of the canvas. We call that point *the origin*.\\n\\nThe origin has coordinates (0, 0) by definition.\\n\\nThe black vertical line represents all the locations whose x-coordinate is zero.
